41st Grandshaykh of Naqshbandiya Aaliya order
Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Mehmet Adil AR-Rabbani
An-Naqshbandi
Mawlana Shaykh Muhammed Aadil Ar Rabbani Al Qubrusi (qs) – lovingly also referred to as Mawlana Shaykh Mehmet (qs) – is the current head of the Naqshbandiya Aaliya Sufi way. As Mawlana Shaykh Nazim’s successor, Shaykh Muhammad is now the 41st Shaykh of the Golden Chain of the Naqshbandi-Haqqani Tariqa.
His father and guide Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Adil al-Haqqani ar-Rabbani (qs) is of the lineage of the founder of the Qadiriyya Tariqa, Abdul-Qadir Gilani (qs), while his great grandmother is of the lineage of the founder of the Mawlawi Tariqa, Mawlana Jalaluddin Rumi(qs). From his father’s side, his lineage goes back to the family of the Islamic prophet Muhammad(ﷺ).
Shaykh Muhammed (qs) was born in Damascus on 29th March 1957. He is the eldest son of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (qs) and our Mother Hajjah Amina (qs). He spent his childhood days in Damascus. In Tasawwuf, Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (qs) and Grandshaykh Abdullah Daghestani (qs) were his teachers. At the same time, He used to attend madrasa and took Islamic lessons from famous Ulema of Damascus. When Mawlana (qs) and his family returned to Cyprus, Shaykh Muhammed (qs) was living in Istanbul and helping Mawlana (qs) in there. For many years, He accepted bay’aah for the name of Mawlana and opened a lot of dargahs and zawiyas in Istanbul. Shaykh Muhammed (qs) was doing his service to Islam, to tariqah, to Awliyas and to his father and Shaykh very silently. Even now He doesn’t like to show what he does.
Very humble and silent, He continues with his khidmat. He gives a lot of importance to khidmat. Until today, He is working so much for khidmat. He will never choose the work for khidmat. You can see today him working in gardens and pick up oranges and tomorrow he can be seen having a meeting with very famous and high ranking people, for khidmat. Nothing can stop him to serve Islam and tariqah. He hates to show off and also dislikes people who show off. He likes to forgive for the sake of his father. He doesn’t care what others talk about him or gossip about him. From his sohbah, you can listen or read that he said the gossips or peoples saying is less for his nafs. Even this shows how a great personality he has. Like his father without any reasons thousands of people love Shaykh Muhammed (qs) more than their life. This is his miracle too. This love, which without knowing how it has started takes control of your life and makes people’s lives better.
A few years before his passing away, Sultan ul Awliya Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al Haqqani (qs) appointed his son Shaykh Muhammad Adil as his Spiritual Successor, the sole Chief and the Grandshaykh in the Naqsbandi Golden Chain of transmission, which consist of the most elite of all Saints/Awliyas.
The reins of the Naqshbandi headquarters in Lefke, Cyprus are now in the hands of Sultan ul Awliya Mawlana Shaykh Muhammed Aadil Ar Rabbani (qs), who very humbly and silently, continues with his khidmat everyday – as the 41st Grand Shaykh of the Naqshbandi Golden Chain.
Even the title of Sultan ul Awliya and successor of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim Al Haqqani ar Rabbani (qs) does not stop him from working in his fields, tilling the land or picking oranges and serving all, who come to meet him in Lefke Cyprus.
As long as Mawlana Shaykh Mehmet is here, they treat their guests who arrive from all corners of the world. They see their guests, young and old, one by one, and gives advice and sohba to them.

Grand Shaykh Abdullah Faiz ad- Dagestani (qs) prophecy : “O Nazim Effendi, Your son [Mehmet Adil] possesses a very great power of spirituality; he has the power to rule. Mehmet Effendi [Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Adil] will be SEVEN times greater than you in rank !”
