ADAB OF WELCOMING THE MONTH OF RAJAB

Comments Off on ADAB OF WELCOMING THE MONTH OF RAJAB

Bismi Llāhi r-Raḥmāni r-Raḥīm:

When the month of Rajab enters, the Murīd begins after Maghrib receiving and welcoming the month of Rajab.

  • The Murīd performs Ghusl, the major ritual purification.
  • Then dresses in the best clothes and puts on a nice scent,
  • then prays 2 Rakaa’ts Sunnat al-Wudū’.

The Murīd takes three steps in the direction of the Qiblah in his place of worship, and says:

Yā Rabbī innanī nawaytu an ataqaddama nahwa bahri wahdanīyyatika ilā maqāmi l-Fanāi fīka, Falā tarudanī yā Rabbi, yā Allāh khā’ibān hatta tuwassilanī ila dhāka l-maqām. Yā Rabb al-izzati wa ’l-aa’zamati wa ’l- jabbarūt, Yā Rabbī, yā Allāh haithu hādha ash-Shahru hūwa shahruka, ji’tuka dayfan wa nāwīyan an a’aa’mala aa’malan bidūn iwadun aw an yakūna fīhi talaban li ’l-fadīlati qāsidan iyyāka Ilāhī anta maqsūdī wa ridāka matlūbi. [(Translation) O my Lord, I am moving and stepping forward for the Station of Annihilation in the Divine Presence. O God—glory be to You, the Most High—I am asking you to cause me to vanish before Your Existence and, O my Lord, I am moving toward your Ocean of Unity. O my Lord, do not reject me until I reach this Station. O Lord of Honor and Greatness, Imposer of Thy Will. O my Lord, O God, since this month is your month, I came to you as a weak guest and intending to worship You without asking anything in return. My God, You are my aim, and Your good pleasure is what I seek. O my Lord, I spent all my life in disobedience and hidden Shirk/polytheism. And I am declaring wholeheartedly that I did not do any deed that is accepted by You. You are God, and no one came to Your door by his deeds, but (only) by Your grant, reward, kindness and generosity. You are God Who never turns back anyone that came to your door, so do not turn me back, O God. O my Lord, I have given everything into Your hands—my life, my death, my afterlife, and Judgment Day. All my things I have transferred to You, and You are the One Who controls me. O my Lord, I do not possess anything with my ego and my soul. I cannot give good to myself, or bad to myself, or death to myself, or life to myself, but I have transferred all my accounts, and all Your judgment on me, and all your questions to me, and all my answers I have transferred to You, O my Lord, O God. Whatever You want to do with me, You do. My neck is in Your Hand. I am helpless in answering Your questions; even the smallest answer I cannot give. O my Lord, if you had two doors (for Your servant to enter through)—one for the repentant of the believers of Your servants and one for the repentant of the disobedient of Your servants—I am coming to You, O God, from the door that the disobedient needs to come through. I am declaring and saying to You that I have to renew my faith and my testimony of faith from this door. This deed is the first deed for me after I pronounced the Shahāda and entering Islam truely, O my Lord, and You are my Protector from whence we say: God is the Protector and Witness over what we say.]

[(Translation) Re-affirmation of the pillars of faith: I believe in God, His Angels, His books, His Messengers, the Last Day, and that the Destiny—its good and its bad—is from God, the Most High.]

Yā Rabbī fi yawm “Alastu bi Rabbikum, Kalu Bala”, madha kana bayni wa baynaka min uhud kad kabiltuhum wa ta’aa’hadtu bihim wa raditu bihim jami’aa’n. [(Translation) O my Lord, from the Day of “Am I not your Lord? They said: Yes You are”, the Day of Promises, whatever there was of promise between Me to You, I accept it all and promise to do it all. (Re-affirmation of the promises made on the Day of Promises in the presence of Allah

Almighty.) O my Lord, O God, from the day You created my atom, my essence, and from the day You brought up my soul, and from the day my soul came from the absolute abstract to existence, until our day, how much of disobedience has appeared from me and my essence, and from my soul and my body, spiritually and physically! I am regretting it all, and regretting what I did, and coming back to You asking forgiveness and repentance.]
